Ophthalmologist

Dr. Matthew Bills, OD

Dr. Tamzid Rahman is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and eye surgeon who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of eye diseases, including cataracts and glaucoma. Besides being proficient with cataract surgery (utilizing both traditional and advanced techniques with premium lens technologies), Dr. Rahman also performs micro-invasive and laser glaucoma surgeries. He understands that vision is our most precious sense – and is passionate and persistent about ensuring his patients can see to the best of their abilities.

Dr. Rahman was born in Bangladesh, and raised in Miami, Florida. He attended the University of Miami for an undergraduate degree in Neurobiology and Chemistry – and made the Dean’s List every semester. After graduating, Dr. Rahman pursued a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine to better understand the complexities of our healthcare system and to help increase access to medical care.

After obtaining his MPH, Dr. Rahman attended the Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, Arizona for his medical degree. He was selected for the Sigma Sigma Phi National Honors Fraternity during his training, and he graduated at the top 10% of his class. He then pursued a year of clinical ophthalmology research at Maine Eye Center (Portland, Maine) and Tufts University (Boston, Massachusetts) before returning to Phoenix to complete a year of Internal Medicine residency at Valleywise Hospital/Creighton University. Afterwards, he completed his ophthalmology training at Larkin Community Hospital/Nova Southeastern University in Miami, Florida, where he served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Rahman is an avid fan of his alma mater the University of Miami Hurricanes football and basketball team, as well as his hometown Miami Heat. He also has a huge interest in the culinary arts – in his free time, you may find him exploring the diverse food scene in Phoenix with his wife or in his kitchen working on a new dish. In fact, if Dr. Rahman was not an ophthalmologist, he would likely be operating his own food truck and/or restaurant!

Dr. Rahman is fluent in Bengali, Hindi, and Urdu; he has intermediate proficiency in Spanish.
